May 2026 New hires learn CRM from whoever sits next to them
Challenge Give every new CRM user a proper start so your data model doesn’t erode one shortcut at a time.
Tip 1: One page for the first week, per role
Sales, service, and admin do different things each day. They still need the same basics written down: what a good record looks like, what gets logged, what you don’t invent on the fly.
Fix it now: Draft one A4 page per role: create or edit a contact, log an activity, open an opportunity, hand off to finance or delivery. Name a CRM champion for the month who owns “how do I…?” for their patch.
More on that in CRM adoption strategies.
Real-world proof: When quoting time drops from hours to minutes, it’s rarely down to more slides. See Weightlifter Bodies.
Tip 2: Buddy them for 30 days
Shadowing beats a manual. For 30 days, the new starter uses CRM as designed. The buddy unblocks without teaching workarounds.
Fix it now: Pair people this week in stand-up or your team channel. Put a reminder on day 14: are we still using CRM the same way? If the same questions keep coming back, fix the process — don’t add another exception.
